Some memories fade. Some memories fight back. Since the tragic accident that stole her parents, sixteen-year-old amnesiac Cat Lindensen lives each day with only faint memories of the last. But after her uncle abruptly uproots their L.A. lives for the lush forests of Oregon, even Cat begins to notice the shadows that stalk her steps. Frightening hallucinations, flash growth spurts, and a debilitating reaction to iron leave Cat fearing for her mind. No one notices Cat's struggles more than the strange new boy Card Thomas, namely because he triggers them. The touch of his skin sends Cat into consuming visions of magic, monsters, and even her own lost past. But while Cat clings to the world she thought she lived in, she can't help but fall in love with a truth she can't explain--even as she's falling into the arms of an old friend with more secrets than she ever knew. Revived to the supernatural world around her, Cat must bend the lines between right and wrong to navigate the harsh world of bargains, curses, and a love that tests her very sanity. But sometimes it’s good to go a little crazy in love...

This book has been sitting in my kindle for a month. I just didn't pick it up because I wasn't sure what I'd be getting into. I wasn't clear on what to expect. Let me clue you in, without giving away too much.Sixteen-year-old Cat has a memory like a sieve. She was in a terrible accident when she was fourteen where she lost her parents and all her memories from before the accident. Her uncle stepped in to raise her. Almost three years and several cross country moves later they land in Portland.
Her uncle is away on business all the time leaving Cat to fend for herself. He's also super overprotective of her. Couple that with her much younger than reality appearance, and Cat finds herself in a new city with a constant tag along babysitter, I mean bodyguard, courtesy of dear old uncle Hal.
Frequent relocations and the memory of a goldfish make it difficult to find and keep friends, but the first day in her new school, luck shines upon her. Cat meets Hannah and they become fast, good friends. Add a super hot interested boy to the mix and Cat finds herself loving Portland.
Strange occurrences threaten to ruin her first chance at a normal life since the accident though. Any time the hot guy touches her, Cat has weird flashbacks. After sneaking into a nightclub for the first time, the experience she has on the dance floor is odd to say the least, and mind blowing to be more accurate. Follow that with an overnight physical makeover (that includes a four inch growth spurt), and Cat starts to think she's going insane. She's desperately trying to solve the mystery without sacrificing her newfound happiness. Fortunately for her one person in her life is there to help her remember who, or actually WHAT, she is. But will it happen in time to change the dark fate that awaits her?
This plot will quickly draw you in, and the pace of the book is perfect. There are no lulls in the action whatsoever. Seamlessly injected humor, well placed suspense and sweet but not over the top romance makes this author one to watch. I cannot wait for the next book in the series. Which brings to mind another positive point for the book: the ending perfectly wraps up book one (no cliffhanger) while clearly setting up the next adventure for Cat.
All in all, this one is HIGHLY recommended (as if that wasn't clear), and though it's classified as young adult, it will definitely delight readers of all ages. If you love Elle Casey and Julia Crane, you'll love SC Harrison as well.

Revive The Revive Series S C Harrison 9781492859680 Books Reviews
I"'ve read the book about life in the realm but never outside it and what it would be like never to be able to return due to being kidnapped and your memory being wiped . This is a good read with some interesting twists on seeing if she can escape all the things her kidnapper has planned for her. There isn't any bad language that I can remember there are some sexual references but to be expected with teenagers. Looking forward to next installment.
The good
- characters were well developed. Main character, Cat, was fun and likeable. Love interest, Card, was, hot!
- Well written
- interesting twist on the fae
- generally ROCKED
The downsides
- pace was a little slow in the beginning, but I never got bored
- some dialogue tags were obtrusive for me, but I'm weird about that.
Overall, I really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it!
I was only 8 pages in and I knew ..This story is (Special) I left my home and dove head first into the body of Cat..relived all my teenage Angst..All the horrors and delights .. From everlasting friendships..to the delights of finding a place to belong..you love each and every moment with Cat as she slowly relearns who and what she is...as her freindship with Hannah grows and her horror at what her (Uncle) is I have to say the originality of this version if the Fey was intriguing and special and I want to find the author and yell 2013 ! Are you serious 2013 to find out more! I want more now! Now! Now! Beating my fists onto the table. Please write fast!
Be sure to read my review for the 2nd book, Sustain.
The first version of Revive was definitely worth the money and more importantly, the time to read. The re-edited version is worth a re-purchase and re-read. It's a page turner. Even better, this book is a "keep you up all night with your teenage daughter reading to each other" book!
Okay, so maybe I should make my daughter go to bed at a reasonable hour, but my daughter and I read this book and the next out loud to each other. We stayed up all night because we didn't want to miss a second of the story. We fell in love with all the characters. We took time to discuss that dreaded topic - sex - and the even more dreaded topic - rape. The book takes on these topics without flinching, and in a manner that allowed us to talk about these subjects. Oh and we also talked about friendship, shopping, music and boys (not in that order), because these are all topics in the book.
Even if we hadn't read this book together, I would whole heartedly approve of my daughter reading this series on her own. Oh, and I'll be reading it on my own too.
***spoiler***
The protagonist is in a situation where she would have been raped, but she was not. She both rescues herself and she has help. Nevertheless, the characters discuss and "deal with" the aftermath.

In the interest of full disclosure, after having read the first edition of this book, my daughter wrote the author letters of encouragement, and convinced the school library to make the book available to students. After we read this second edition, we loaned the book to a friend and discovered the dedication. *blush* Thank you, SC!
Also, we are anxiously awaiting the next exciting installment, so write or edit faster. We want to know the details of how it all ends - we know it will end happily.
